Legislative Committee Report 81-6 Vice Mayor Stangel, Chairman of the <br /> Legislative Committee presented the <br /> recommendation relating to (a) Mail Ballot <br /> Elections. <br /> Councilman Britschgi, Committee member, <br /> presented the recommendation relating to (b) <br /> Councilmanic Compensation and provided <br /> information concerning salaries paid to <br /> Council members in other San Mateo County <br /> cities. <br /> Director of Finance Ference presented the <br /> recommendations relating to (c) Purchasing <br /> Pool Bid Levels and (d) Surplus Personal Property <br /> Sales. <br /> Iwo Discussion followed and City Clerk Hildebrand <br /> replied to questions and commented concerning <br /> mail ballot election procedures. <br /> M/S: Bury/ to accept the <br /> recommendations contained in Legislative <br /> Report 81-6 relating to items (b), (c), and <br /> (d). <br /> MOTION WITHDRAWN: Councilman Bury withdrew <br /> his motion for lack of a second. <br /> Discussion continued regarding compensation <br /> of Council members in other cities in the <br /> County, and it was noted that Redwood City <br /> councilmen receive significantly less salary <br /> than those of other cities, even among those <br /> which are much smaller. Only one other city <br /> in the County (San Mateo) is a charter city, <br /> while the others, being general law cities, <br /> merely adopt the appropriate ordinance under <br /> the State law which allows them to set <br /> compensation according to population with <br /> increases on a formula basis. <br /> IMO Reg.Mtg. <br /> 11/2/81 <br /> Page 3 <br />
