90,
GENERAL
1. Mayor Biagi called attention to the letter from John Clark, Acting
Chairman of the Park and Recreation Commission, relating to Canyon Park
and, there being no objection, referred it to the public hearing on the mod
Recommended Annual Budget 1981-82 to be held on July 6, 1981.
(Memo 6/23/81)
2. Councilman Bury reported that the Chamber of Commerce is planning an
auction as a source of funds needed for operation of Chamber programs and
asked Council members to assist in any way possible.
3. Councilman Britschgi suggested that the City Council consider meeting only
twice a month during July and August because of summer vacations and the
apparently shorter agendas recently.
Discussion followed concerning whether schedules might be adversely
affected; whether confusion would occur for those who might expect to be •
able to attend meetings as scheduled; the fact that a short agenda may
contain items of importance to the persons affected; and the need to
coordinate with staff so that scheduling problems are avoided.
CONSENSUS: Mayor Biagi determined it to be the consensus of Council that
the Mayor be given the discretion to cancel meetings during the summer
• months of July and August, if prospective agendas suggest it is possible
• to do so occasionally when no problems would be created by the failure of
the Council to meet regularly as scheduled. (Memo 6/23/81)
4. In response to inquiry of Councilman Chandler regarding staff attendance
at a building industry seminar on mortgage revenue bonds to be held June .
26, Assistant City Manager Smith said that a City representative will
attend, but that the seminar is aimed primarily at home builders who are
less familiar with the subject than City staff and the Council.
5. Councilman Britschgi called attention to the letter from Peninsula
Conservation Center regarding South Shores and Bair Island, pointing out
that the letter contains many inaccuracies and suggesting the Planning
Director might be asked to report the facts to the Center. City Attorney
mod
Schricker advised that the Center is a plaintiff against the Port at this
time in connection with the proposed cement operation.
ADJOURNMENT - EXECUTIVE SESSION
Title read.
