SESSION <br /> June 14, 1980 <br /> Adjourned Meeting - <br /> Budget Study Session <br /> The Council of the City of Redwood City met on this date at 9:00 a.m. <br /> with Mayor Biagi presiding. <br /> Councilmen present: Britschgi , Bury, Leipzig, Rhodes, Stangel and <br /> Mayor Biagi <br /> Councilmen absent: Chandler <br /> Officials and staff present: Fales, Schricker, Smith, Ference, Hildebrand <br /> and Addiego, Schroeter, Griffiths, Vollmayer, Irizarry, Hartman, Gsell <br /> Recommended Annual Budget 1980-81 <br /> Mayor Biagi announced that the usual procedure will be followed with <br /> regard to review of the Budget, commencing with review of the Operations <br /> Programs in the order presented. Mayor Biagi observed that it will be <br /> possible to return to any program after it has been considered and ques- <br /> tions may be asked at any time. <br /> Councilman Bury stated for the record that he will be unable to be oml <br /> present for the second study session scheduled for June 23, since his <br /> imori <br /> vacation plans were required to be made many months ago before Charter <br /> changes were made which allow the sessions to take place in June rather <br /> than in May as in the past. <br /> Councilman Britschgi stated that he must leave early today in order to <br /> attend his daughter's graduation and has already so advised the Mayor. <br /> HUMAN SERVICES app 9 - 13) <br /> TRAINING FOR PUBLIC SERVICE (CETA ADMINISTRATION) <br /> HUMAN SERVICES ASSISTANCE <br /> A representative of PROBE requested that consideration of requests <br /> frora agencies represented by Clifford Boxley be delayed pending <br /> h.F., arrival , as he is expected shortly. Mayor Biagi agreed to do <br /> 5(j. <br /> Sequoia YMCA - Fair Oaks Outreach, <br /> Sequoia YMCA - Youth and Family Services (YFS) <br /> Ken Terao, 2019 Avenida de las Flores , Santa Clara, described YMCA <br /> programs for youth, particularly the Fair Oaks Outreach program <br /> which involves having a counselor stationed there. In response • <br /> to questions, Mr. Terao spoke about the desirable effect on the <br /> recidivism rate of juveniles in the programs, advising youths are <br /> referred to the YMCA by the Police Department, the County proba- <br /> tion offices and by schools on a prevention basis.
