144
GENERAL
Councilman Bury advised that it has been reported to him that trees are being
removed in the Hetch-Hetchy right-of-way by the San Francisco Water Department
in connection with maintenance, and that eucalyptus trees in the Canyon Park
area are threatened. Councilman Bury suggested that any tree cutting in the
area should be stopped unless the need to do so can be demonstrated.
City Manager Fales and City Attorney Schricker advised that the grove of
eucalyptus trees at the Canyon Park site are the subject of a written agreement
involving a revocable permit issued by the San Francisco Water Department, and
the trees are not to be removed. omit
Jan Weintraub, 3255 Oak Knoll, reported that one large eucalyptus tree has
been removed and that workers in the area advise other trees will be removed
for maintenance purposes. Mrs. Weintraub noted that the trees which appear
to be threatened are on the border of Canyon Park.
Mr. Fales advised that someone from the Public Works Department will be sent
to the site tomorrow morning and a call will be made to the Water Department
to investigate the matter in view of the revocable permit which exists.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
M/S: Norris/Leipzig to adjourn to Executive Session for the purpose of
considering personnel matters and to reconvene solely to adjourn.
Carried unanimously by voice vote.
Council adjourned to executive session at 8:05 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT
Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the City Council adjourned
at 9:00 p.m.
JACQUELINE C.
