He stated that the <br /> $8,000 for administrative support for the Center <br /> was of immediate importance, but also hoped the <br /> City would provide the support to help build up <br /> the facility to serve elderly needs. <br /> Mayor Biagi reported on a meeting which he <br /> attended today with Sally Salinas, of the Senior <br /> Drop-In Center, and representatives from the <br /> Area Agency on Aging, as well as County staff, <br /> to try to work out some funding. Discussion <br /> related to the fact that the County provided <br /> funds toward establishing the Center, but will <br /> not fund it on an ongoing basis. He suggested <br /> that the Senior Advisory Committee be charged <br /> with analyzing what the City is dispensing in <br /> services, including the Fair Oaks Community <br /> Center, the Senior Drop-In Center and the new <br /> center to be built in the current fiscal year, <br /> to determine what, if any, overlapping of <br /> services may exist, and that they come back <br /> with their report next January before the next <br /> budget with an analysis of what the various <br /> governmental entities provide. <br /> Mayor Biagi continued, noting that as an out- <br /> come of the meeting, through the County's CETA <br /> program and the City's CETA program, it will be <br /> possible to fill the vacant position at the <br /> Senior Drop-In Center, which will amount to an <br /> 1400 equivalent of the $8,000 requested. This, in <br /> effect, serves to respond to the requests by <br /> supporters of the Drop-In Center for the <br /> additional funds. <br /> b. Final Budget approval Assistant City Manager Smith referred to the <br /> City Manager's report of July 11, 1980, <br /> attaching reports in response to Council's <br /> requests during the budget study sessions. <br /> Memo July 2, 1980, Director of Parks and <br /> Recreation: <br /> Capital Improvement Projects FY 1980-81 <br /> Mr. Smith noted that with regard to the sub- <br /> stitution of Canyon Park, Phase II for <br /> Stafford Park, Phase I, the report does not <br /> include engineering and architectural costs <br /> of $27,000 in addition to the $165,000 shown <br /> for construction items. <br /> Mr. Griffiths, Director of Parks and Recrea- <br /> tion, commented and replied to questions by <br /> Council regarding the kind of development in- <br /> tended <br /> for Canyon Park, whether some of the <br /> items could be eliminated, that the Gardener/ <br /> Reg.Mtg. <br /> riff 7/14/80 <br /> Page 3 <br /> ,/ ,l <br />
