3 4 6
AGENDA (continued) ACTION TAKEN (continued) `"ld
PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued) PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued)
2. (continued) Horstman said that both uses are public uses
and he assumes the intent of the City is to
acquire it at full market value. It was pointed
out that other nearby cities have landscaping
along SP railroad tracks.
Peter Empey, Pacific Ready-Mix Cement Co.,
25 Maple Street, advised he is concerned since
his company is not shown on the Plan in 1990
and commented concerning the company's contri-
bution to the City in the way of taxes, jobs
and industry. Mr. Empey suggested that only
two of the members of the Citizens Advisory
Committee were present at the time the Plan
was approved, stating he offered a minority
report.
John Manning, 1445-7 El Camino Real, florist,
stated that he is opposed to anything which
might devaluate his small property, since he
is counting on it as the basis of his retirement.
Wally Krone, 990 Arlington, Burger King, sug-
gested that the Plan be returned to the
Planning Commission and that they be asked to
work with a full citizens committee. Mr. Krone
advised that as a result of poor experience
with another Bay Area city regarding their plan ___
for development, he objects to the subject Plan.
It was pointed out that all property owners in
the City should be considered with regard to
the kind of development which is to occur on
El Camino Real as well as those who own
property there.
Mary MacTaggart, 1426 El Camino Real, repre-
senting her mother, owner of an auto supply
store, objected because the property is
designated as eventual open space in the Plan
and expressed her concern that the City would
take the property for such use. City Attorney
Schricker advised that the Plan is not an
acquisition plan, but that in any case the
State Constitution requires that the City must
pay fair market value for property it acquires.
Bill Beeger, 1555 El Camino Real, Towne Ford,
said he does not believe the street is appro-
priate for residential use and objected to the
apparent increased landscaping. Mr. Beeger
observed that the City is not required to buy
setbacks.
(Council recessed from 8:50 to 9:05 p.m.)
Jerry Mandolfo, 1060 El Camino Real, advised
he was appointed to the Advisory Committee and psi
quit after two meetings because he believed the
Plan existed before the Committee was formed.
Mr. Mandolfo suggested that as one involved in
Reg.Mtg.
9/8/80
Page 4
