398
GENERAL (continued)
2. Councilman Bury called attention to the telegram sent by Mayor Biagi to the
Director of the Census protesting the Redwood City count, suggesting the telegram
might be followed up with correspondence listing specific concerns.
Mayor Biagi and City Manager Fales described the fluctuating variety of popula-
tion figures for the City received from different representatives of the Census,
varying by several thousand persons each time, and the exceptional participation
of the City with the census counters in cooperating with them in order to insure
an accurate count. It was pointed out the City will not accept a figure not
believed to be accurate.
3. Vice Mayor Stangel referred to a letter from Pearson, Del Prete & Co., certified
public accountants, requesting the opportunity to submit a proposal to conduct
the City's audit of financial statements, inquiring whether such request could
be considered and the City might go out to bid on accounting services.
City Manager Fales advised that such requests to perform professional services
are received from time to time and are welcome, observing that the City does
not go out to bid on professional services, since the reputation of the firm is
what is being purchased rather than tangible items.
ADJOURNMENT
M/S: Rhodes/Stangel to adjourn to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 15, 1980 at City
Hall for the Main Street Walk.
olo
Carried unanimously by voice vote and Council adjourned at 7:50 p.m. ""
JACQUELINE C.
