Public Hearing - Appeal from the decision Memorandum of Planning Director 11/18/80 <br /> of the Zoning Administrator denying appli- <br /> cation for variance for six-foot fence -- Mayor Biagi declared open at 7:42 p.m. <br /> Heimerhaus, 601 Main Street - Leslie and <br /> Karen Wandel, appellants Affidavits of Publication of Notice of Hearing <br /> and of Mailing were reported on file. <br /> Leslie Wandel, 601 Main Street, appellant, <br /> offered to reply to questions relating to his <br /> appeal. <br /> bawd Discussion followed and Mr. Wandel and Planning <br /> Director Schroeter commented and replied to <br /> questions regarding the need for an outdoor <br /> eating area; the desire to provide shelter from <br /> wind; the daytime hours of business; the alter- <br /> natives which might be available; the cost of <br /> a decorative fence; plans for improved land- <br /> scaping in the area; the improvements made to <br /> the building occupied by Mr. Wandel's business; <br /> the concern of Council that any fence which may <br /> be allowed will be well-maintained; whether <br /> maintenance could not be a condition of <br /> approval of the fence; the difficulties of en- <br /> forcing such conditions; and the fact that the <br /> business is well-known in the area and the <br /> appellant is not concerned that the fence may <br /> obscure his signs. <br /> Mayor Biagi invited anyone else present who <br /> wished to speak to do so.
