(continued) City Clerk Hildebrand reported that no legal <br /> advertising of the hearing is required but that <br /> voluntary advertising of the hearing has been <br /> made. <br /> In response to question, City Manager Fales ex- <br /> plained the status of grant funds requested for <br /> modification of the Veterans Building for use <br /> by seniors. <br /> • <br /> Tom Jordan, Chairman, Senior Citizens Advisory <br /> Committee, advised that the Committee met last <br /> week to consider space design and asked the <br /> architect for alternate designs in connection <br /> with use of the Building for a senior center, <br /> noting that the alternatives will be considered <br /> at the April 24 meeting. Mr. Jordan pointed <br /> out that there has never been any intention of <br /> eliminating services and activities for veterans <br /> in the building, but that changes are needed to <br /> meet senior needs also. <br /> Mr. Fales observed that estimated cost will be <br /> about $400,000 with $200,000 already approved <br /> and $100,000 more in the subject application, <br /> • leaving a shortage of $100,000 to be obtained <br /> elsewhere. <br /> Tom Vance, 425 Palomar, suggested the doors of <br /> the Veterans Building be equipped to open <br /> automatically for wheelchairs. <br /> • <br /> Mayor Rhodes invited anyone else who wished to <br /> speak to do so. No one wished to speak. <br /> M/S: Norris/Chandler to close the public <br /> hearing. <br /> Carried unanimously and public hearing closed <br /> at 7:45 p.m. <br /> M""' RESOLUTION APPROVING APPLICATION FOR Title read.
