AT7.3.D. - Page 3 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> AUTHORIZING MAYOR TO EXECUTE SECOND AMENDMENT TO <br /> EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT OF CITY MANAGER <br /> WHEREAS, Robert B. Bell has served as the City Manager of the City of Redwood <br /> City ("City") since April 2011 after also having served as the Interim City Manager; and <br /> WHEREAS, Dr. Bell indicated that he will retire this year, planned to resign <br /> effective May 1, 2015, and has already effectuated the sale of his home in preparation for <br /> a move out of state; and <br /> WHEREAS, City has requested that Dr. Bell postpone his resignation date until <br /> June 28, 2015, in order to provide for management and oversight of the City through the <br /> end of the fiscal year, to supervise projects during this period of unprecedented <br /> development activity, and to provide for continuity and a smooth transition as the City <br /> undergoes it search for a new City Manager; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council as appointing power and Dr. Bell agree to the <br /> following terms in consideration of Dr. Bell's agreement to extend his employment to the <br /> City's preferred date. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> 2.1 The Mayor is authorized to execute a Second Amendment to the <br /> Employment Agreement between the City of Redwood City and Robert B. <br /> Bell to provide that Dr. Bell's resignation date shall be June 28, 2015, and <br /> in consideration therefore the City shall provide Dr. Bell a housing <br /> allowance, in addition to his regular compensation as set forth in his <br /> Employment Agreement as Amended, in the amount of eight thousand <br /> dollars per month ($8,000) for the months of May and June 2015 for a total <br /> of sixteen thousand dollars ($16,000) payable in lump sum on or before <br /> April 16, 2015, which amount is intended to offset the financial burden of <br /> remaining in the area pending the City's preferred extended employment <br /> resignation date for Dr. Bell.
