One other Council Member also had <br /> questions about the street sweeping program and the library staffing for Schaberg <br /> Library. <br /> Dr. Bell gave credit where credit was due and noted that it was the Vice Mayor's idea to <br /> have a senior day downtown. Another Council Member was very supportive of the <br /> program and he asked if staff had an idea of how much the funding would be needed for <br /> the Endowment fund. Dr. Bell said that the revenue stream would depend on how much <br /> the Partnership Redwood City would generate. Council was very supportive of this <br /> approach. <br /> Regarding street sweeping one Council Member wanted an additional pilot on a <br /> different side of the street and she would like that in a residential neighborhood and it <br /> might be a good opportunity to get residents involved and participate. Dr. Bell said that <br /> a pilot program might be a good approach and he will also have staff look at the delivery <br /> model to see if there are any possibilities for improvement. This Council Member <br /> supports all the other ideas and she fully supports the HSFA approach and she looks <br /> forward to seeing what areas are most critical. Another Council Member appreciated <br /> the fact that Engine 9 was reinstated and he is happy that it is back and the qualitative <br /> metrics are hugely helpful. This Council Member appreciates all the initiatives especially <br /> the Senior Day and he particularly appreciated the HSFA funding idea and he believes <br /> this is a sustainable and innovative approach. This Council Member would like to get <br /> the CBID and the Downtown Business group involved to engage private partnerships. <br /> Dr. Bell clarified that this came out of a discussion at the Council retreat and from that <br /> he took the idea and then Mayor Gee thought of the Endowment fund. <br /> Vice Mayor Foust thanked Dr. Bell for taking to heart the comments from the Council at <br /> the retreat. She also asked if the new Public Works Director could have some creativity <br /> with a pilot for street sweeping in residential areas. This Council Member said that she <br /> hopes to increase the communication efforts and she is looking for more communication <br /> via various means and to reach out to various organizations and how best to do it. She <br /> mentioned resurrecting the City newsletter. She thanked the City Manager and all the <br /> Department Heads collectively. Mayor Gee concurred with a line item for enhanced <br /> communication and he is looking forward to the execution on all these preliminary plans. <br /> He also mentioned that he would like to continue providing the City Manager with an <br /> Innovation Fund. <br /> Public Comment <br /> Eva Orbit, a community organizer with Innovate Public Schools, spoke about their <br /> upcoming Community Action Forum Meeting on March 11 and the goals for the event. <br /> She is excited that Mayor Gee will speak at the event and invited the community to <br /> come. <br /> 11.
