7.1.E. - Page 4
ALTERNATIVES
Do not approve the contract with AJB Construction. The home would be likely be razed
as a result of the pending residential development. Staff would work with the developer
to determine whether the materials from the home could potentially be saved for re-use.
FISCAL IMPACT
Due to the implementation of the Downtown Precise Plan and development activity in
Downtown, the City currently has over $15 million in funds as a result of the sale of City
owned property in the Downtown area. Staff recommends that funds from the sale of
"Block 2" or other funds from the sale of other Downtown property be used to fund the
subject contract and other contracts associated relocation of 103 Wilson Street. The
cost of the subject contract is $84,180. It is expected that the total cost of this project
will fall between $200,000-$300,000 not including the original land cost.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The California Environmental Quality Act categorically exempts single-family home
construction from further environmental review. Furthermore, rehabilitating a historic
structure is also categorically exempt from further environmental review.
c
AARON AKNIN
ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER
ROBERT B.
