Temporary Outdoor Water Restrictions: <br />· The direct application of water to any hard surface for washing is prohibited <br />· Watering of outdoor landscaping that causes runoff to adjacent property, non- <br />irrigated areas, private and public walkways, roadways, parking lots or structures <br />is prohibited <br />· Using a hose to wash an automobile, unless the hose is fitted with a shut-off <br />nozzle is prohibited <br />· Using potable water in a fountain or decorative water feature, unless water is <br />recirculated, is prohibited <br />· Limit outdoor irrigation of ornamental landscapes or turf with potable water to no <br />more than two days per week (New) <br />· The application of potable water to outdoor landscapes during and within 48 <br />hours after measureable rainfall is prohibited (New) <br />· To promote water conservation, operators of hotels and motels shall provide <br />guests with the option of choosing not to have towels and linens laundered daily. <br />(New) <br />· The serving of drinking water other than upon request in eating or drinking <br />establishments (New) <br /> <br />Pursuant to SWRCB’s new regulations, violations of prohibited activities are <br />considered infractions and are punishable by fines of up to $500 for each day in <br />which violation occurs. However, the City will provide a warning notice, educate <br />violators, and send a certified letter for repeat violations prior to imposing fines. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Report Urban Water Use to State Water Board <br />· Monitor City water use and report to the State Water Board by the 15th of each <br />month. <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />An alternative to not complying with these mandatory requirements could lead to cease <br />and desist orders with the City facing fines up to $10,000 per day per violation. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Fiscal impact of adopting these restrictions is unknown at this time.
