ATTY/DOCS-AGR/EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT/AKNIN <br />REV: 06-17-15 PT <br />Page 1 of 5 <br />EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT <br />between <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND AARON AKNIN <br /> <br /> THIS AGREEMENT between the CITY OF REDWOOD CITY ("City") and Aaron <br />Aknin ("Employee") and is deemed effective June 29, 2015 ("Effective Date"). <br /> <br />RECITALS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the current City Manager, Robert Bell, is retiring from City employment <br />effective June 28, 2015; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Employee has been serving the City as Community Development Director <br />and as Assistant City Manager; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, City desires to retain the services of Employee to serve as the Interim City <br />Manager while the City undergoes its search process for City Manager; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Employee desires to serve as Interim City Manager of the City of Redwood <br />City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council, as appointing power, and Employee desire to agree in <br />writing to the terms and conditions of Employee's employment as Interim City Manager. <br /> <br />AGREEMENT <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE PARTIES HERETO AGREE AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> 1. DUTIES. <br /> <br /> (a) City agrees to employ Employee as Interim City Manager of the City of Redwood <br />City to perform the functions and duties specified in the City’s charter, ordinances and <br />resolutions and to perform other legally permissible and proper duties and functions as the City <br />Council may from time to time assign. <br /> <br /> (b) Employee shall perform his duties to the best of his ability in accordance with the <br />highest professional and ethical standards of the profession and shall comply with all general <br />rules and regulations established by City. <br /> <br /> (c) Employee shall not engage in any activity which is or may become a prohibited <br />conflict of interest, prohibited contract, or which may create an incompatibility of office as <br />defined under California law. Contemporaneously with commencing service under this <br />Agreement, Employee must complete disclosure forms required by law which include an <br />assuming office statement and a leaving office statement and annual statements to the extent <br />applicable. <br /> <br />7.1.J. - Page 3
