Contract Period: July 1999 - April 2002
Description of Project: This project will consolidate all existing digital data and GIS projects from various
agencies to compile and normalize all 282,000 parcels comprising the county. All data will be standardized
using digital orthophotography. Parcel topology will be constructed. Additional topological data structures
will be built including easements, right-of-way (arc and polygon topology), centerlines (traveled way and
right-of-way) fully geocoded, hydrography, topographic contours, and jurisdictional boundaries. Extended
contracts will include conversion of the County's 9 Sanitation Districts using GeoMedia's geodatabase
model. All record drawings (- 20,000) including tracts, parcel maps, short plats, LLS and engineering
drawings of CIP projects will also have their boundaries digitized and image files hotlinked to create a
spatial indexing system. Annotation will include street names at three graphical scales, county road
numbers, addresses, and APN labels; tract and subdivision names, landmarks, and other natural features.
Annotation will be dynamically linked.
Deliverables will occur in, AutoCAD Map, ArcInfo and GeoMedia.
City of Burlim!ame GIS Basemap & Utility Conversion Project #9517
Mr. Jim Kelly
City of Burlingame Department of Public Works
501 Primrose Avenue
Burlingame, CA 94010-3997
(650) 558-7200
Contract Period: May 1998 - August 2000
Project Description: This is a comprehensive conversion and GIS implementation project for city-wide use.
AutoCAD Map, ArcInfo, ArcView, and MapGuide are all being put to use during the course of the project.
Hammon, Jensen, Wallen, and Associates (HJW) generated 100 scale digital orthophotography. Lynx
Technologies developed conversion specifications, built the landbase from each tract using coordinate
geometry, and digitized planimetric features. The tract maps were electronically draped over the
orthophotography and adjusted on a tract-by-tract basis. Differences were recorded; overall accuracy of 2.5
feet was maintained throughout the City. Coverages include landbase, street centerline, city-owned
easements, zoning, water, sewer, and storm drain infrastructure. Map features were developed with feature
topology and attributes. Spatial-tabular relations will be maintained between AutoCAD Map, Microsoft
Access, and MapGuide. Lynx Technologies is currently charged with maintaining the data for the next
year. The 2001 project list includes street lighting (March), building footprints (April/May), Signage and
traffic legends (August).
