Contractor shall make periodic tests and maintenance inspections of all
elevator equipment as required by current applicable safety codes for
elevators, dumbwaiters, escalators, and moving walks, including, but not
limited to, annual no-load, slow speed test of car and counterweight
safeties, governors and buffers; annual pressure test on hydraulic
elevators; and every five-years, full-load, full-speed, test of safeties,
governors, and buffers; all as required by ASME A17.1 Code. Written
reports of said tests shall be submitted to the owner and, in the case of
running safety tests, 72 hour (3 working days) prior notification shall be
given so that a Representative of the owner may witness said test. The
purpose of the load test on a hydraulic elevator is to assess the integrity of
the elevator system by subjecting it to above normal operating stresses
and then examining for failures. Should damage occur as a result of the
load test, any repairs will be the responsibility of the Owner unless such
damage is the direct result of Contractor's negligence in performing the
test. I n the event that the elevator fails to pass the load test per the
requirements of Section 307m of the California State Elevator Safety
Orders, the Owner and the State will be notified of the results and the
reasons, if known, for the failure. Any costs associated with remedying
the cause of the failure, including the cost to retest the elevator, are the
responsibility of the owner, unless such costs are covered under warranty
or under an existing maintenance agreement."
E. Insurance Certification:
Contractor shall obtain and maintain in full force and effect throughout the
contract term the insurance noted in these Documents.
F. References:
Each bid must be accompanied by a list of five (5) firms, including
addresses and telephone numbers, currently furnished elevator
maintenance services by the bidder.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 02200-2
