He said that other
'----' jurisdictions use the Redwood City firing range and they should pay their fair share.
In answer to Council questions, Parks and Recreation Superintendent Sally Hartman
advised that the previous cleaning company had advised they were no longer involved in
lead remediation, and the law required regular cleaning of lead buildup in firing ranges.
Superintendent Hartman said the range was last cleaned in January and it was time to clean
the range or close it. She advised that maintenance of all City Buildings was managed by
the Parks and Recreation Department.
MIS: LEIPZIGIRUSKIN TO APPROVE RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID FOR
POLICE DEPARTMENT FIRING RANGE CLEANING SERVICES; AUTHORIZING
EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT FOR SAID WORK; (Jordan Enviromnental, Inc.) AND
REQUESTING THE POLICE CHIEF TO ALLOCATE THE INCREASE OF $6,500 TO
OUTSIDE JURISDICTIONS USING THE FIRING RANGE
In response to Council questions, Superintendent Hartman said other jurisdictions did
pay a fee to use the Redwood City firing range.
In response to Council questions, City Attorney Schricker stated that a previous Council
had approved a revocable permit allowing other parties to use the firing range, and fees
were probably established at that time.
---
Councilman Ruskin suggested the Police Chief be advised to recover the increase "as
appropriate."
Mayor Hartnett suggested that it was premature to ask the Police Chief to recover all of
the $6,500 increase without knowing Redwood City's own use, and offered an amendment
to the Motion incorporating Councilman Ruskin's suggestion: Directing the Police Chief
to revise the fee schedule to recover the fee increase, as appropriate.
The maker and seconder of the Motion agreed to the amendment to their Motion.
MINUTE ORDER NO. 96-062
MOTION AS AMENDED:
MIS: LEIPZIGIRUSKIN TO DIRECT THE POLICE CIDEF TO REVISE THE FEE
SCHEDULE TO RECOVER THE FEE INCREASE, AS APPROPRIATE.
CARRIED BY UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE.
MINUTE ORDER NO. 96-062A
'--'
MINUTE BOOK"NO. 54
Regular Meeting Minutes Page No. 147
March 25,1996
Page 4
