MIS: LEIPZIGIRUSKIN. TITLE READ.
RESOLUTION NO. 12714 ACCEPTING BID FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT FIRING RANGE
CLEANING SERVICES; AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT FOR SAID
WORK; (Jordan Environmental, Inc.)
ADOPTED BY UNANIMOUS ROLL CALL VOTE.
-------______n______---------------------______n______---------------------------------------------------------_____nn
4. BOARDS, COMMISSION AND COMMITTEE REPORTS
A. Public Safety Committee Report on recommendations regarding a fire station in Redwood
Shores. Consideration of the recommendations will take place at the regular Council
meeting of April 15, 1996. (205)
Councilwoman Buchan, Chairperson of the Council Public Safety Committee, reported
that the Committee met in its second public meeting on March 12, 1996 to study Fire
Department service issues. At the conclusion of the meeting the Committee voted
unanimously to make the following recommendations to the full Council to be discussed at
the April 15, 1996 Council meeting:
"1. We recommend that we build a Fire Station in Redwood Shores.
2. The new Fire Station will be staffed using current Fire Department personnel.
3. The minimum daily staffing of the Fire Department will be nineteen (19) personnel.
4. The City Council should decide when and how to implement during the course of our
budget deliberations."
Councilwoman Buchan advised that the issue of a temporary station in Redwood Shores
would be discussed along with the above recommendations at the regular Council Meeting
of April 15, 1996. In response to questions, Councilwoman Buchan said the Committee
discussed timelines without setting specific times and it was her feeling it would probably
be about two years, around the beginning of 1998. She said the whole Council needed to
discuss that issue.
Mayor Hartnett, member of the Public Safety Committee, stated that the "Committee
recommendations did not include timelines because the discussion revolved around the full
Council discussing the recommendations in light of operations and the capital
improvement budget." Also, "there was some discussion about the possibility, not a
recommendation, but a possibility of establishing the budget so that the design was done in
the upcoming fiscal year and the construction would commence the following fiscal year."
MINUTE BOOK NO. 54
Page No. 148 Regular Meeting Minutes
March 25,1996
Page 5
