I . - <br /> Centis described the goals and strategies needed to reach the Library's vision as <br /> described in its Mission Statement. <br /> '-' <br /> "The Redwood City Public Library actively addresses changing community needs <br /> by providing current, accessible materials and information services for children <br /> and adults in a professional, helpful manner." <br /> b) Re-organization presentation - Task force members <br /> Director Light introduced members of the Library staff who worked on the <br /> reorganization of the Library in an effort to achieve the goals of continuous <br /> improvement, and who described their areas of the process: Maria Diaz Slocum, <br /> Pam Olson, Sarah Sheehan, Linda Hedges, Sheila Guzner (and David Miller <br /> and Toni Murzi who also were involved in the process.) <br /> 3. Review of other continuous improvement efforts <br /> a) One Stop Permit Shopping - Customer Service <br /> Fred Shehabi, Plan Check Engineer, introduced his colleagues who were also <br /> involved in development and implementation of the new one stop plan/review/ <br /> permit process now available in Redwood City: Charles Jany, Senior Planner, <br /> Lowell Sue, Senior Civil Engineer, Juan Garcia, Senior Building Inspector and <br /> '----' Jamie Lee, Fire Prevention Officer. Each member stressed the advantages of <br /> face to face contact with the customer for clearer communications, more efficient <br /> use of staff, friendlier service and consistent code application. The group <br /> thanked Building Division Director John La Torra for his support and <br /> described the favorable public response. <br /> b) Water Meter and Utilities Payments - Efficiencies <br /> Public Works Services Director Ingram introduced the members of the <br /> Customer and Support Services Team who worked together to provide effective <br /> use of staff and technology to produce the sought after efficiencies of continuous <br /> improvement. Paul Vukelich, Elizabeth Dolbow, Doug Peterson, and Jon <br /> Costella described the cross-department efforts in using advanced electronic <br /> water metering equipment, described their joint efforts in water conservation and <br /> education, and their free water saving devices and services available free to the <br /> public. <br /> c) Automatic Payment System - Teams <br /> Chris Holmquist, Billing and Collections Manager, described the new <br /> Automatic Payment System which allows Redwood City Water Customers to <br /> - have their water service payment automatically taken out of their bank account. <br /> Special Study Session Minutes MINUTE BOOK NO. 54 <br /> April!, !996 <br /> Page 3 Page No. l61 <br />
