The National Register further explains what is meant by distinctive characteristics of a type, period or method of construction: "A structure is eligible as a specimen of its type or period of construction if it is an important example (within its context) of building practices of a particular time in history. For properties that represent the variation, evolution, or transition of construction types, it must be demonstrated that the variation, etc., was an important phase of the architectural development of the area or community in that it had an impact as evidenced by later buildings." 9 It appears that the 1950 remodeling by Moeller is historically significant. Regarding integrity, the 1950 theater remodeling retains its integrity. Except for the removal of the ticket booth and replacement entry doors, the theater retains nearly all the elements shown on the plans by Moeller. It thus retains all seven aspect of integrity: Location; Design; Setting; Materials; Workmanship; Feeling; and Association. Therefore the 1950 remodeling is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places under Criterion C (Design /Construction). The National Register Nomination for the Fox Theater is limited to the theater building and does not include the attached one story buildings on Middlefield Road and Hamilton Street. However, the one story buildings were designed by the Reid Brothers as part of the theater complex and were constructed at the same time. Both buildings on Hamilton Street and Middlefield Road are eligible for the National Register of Historic Places as a component of the Fox Theater complex . (See separate DPR forms).
