7.1.F. - Page 1 <br /> REPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> July 27, 2015 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Award of Contract — Sanitary Sewer Pump Station Improvements Project <br /> Marina P.S., P.S. No.17 and P.S. No. 19 <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> By motion, approve the contract documents and award the standard form construction <br /> contract 00520 for the Sanitary Sewer Pump Station Improvements Project- Marina P.S., <br /> P.S. No. 17 and P.S. No. 19 to the lowest responsible bidder, Casey Construction, Inc. <br /> of Emerald Hills for their low bid of $1,198,500.00 and authorize the City Manager to <br /> execute the contract and increase the contract amount, if necessary, up to 10% of the <br /> amount awarded, not to exceed $1,318,350.00 and confirm determination that the <br /> project is exempt and meets California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) exemption <br /> criteria as set forth in Section 15301 (Existing Facilities) and Section 15302 <br /> (Replacement or Reconstruction) of the CEQA Regulations. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The Redwood Shores Area currently has a total of 26 sanitary sewer pump stations and <br /> the Seaport Center /Pacific Shores Center Area has 5 sanitary sewer pump stations. <br /> Over the past ten years, the City has made improvements to sanitary sewer pump <br /> stations 1, 2, 3, 10, 12, 14, 15 and 25 to improve the pumping efficiency, ease of <br /> operation, and safety of the facility. Pump stations are selected for improvements after <br /> Engineering and Public Works Services staff evaluate the condition of the existing <br /> facilities and the overall functionality of the pump station. The evaluation includes issues <br /> of safety, maintenance and operation efficiency, and the ability of the facility to perform <br /> in emergency conditions. The subject contract would improve the Marina Pump Station, <br /> Pump Station 17 and Pump Station 19. These pump stations serve the Harbor /Marina <br /> Area and Redwood Shores neighborhoods. <br /> The subject contract consists includes the following: furnishing labor, materials, tools, <br /> equipment and "incidentals" for the improvements of the th ree (3) existing <br /> sanitary sewer pump stations. Specific project components include, but are not <br /> limited to: removal and replacement of existing mechanical and electrical structures; <br /> rehabilitation and repair of an existing wet well; furnishing, installation of a <br /> temporary by -pass system, submersible pumps, motor control center (MCC); <br /> complete 80KW generator; and connection of pump stations to existing force mains. <br /> Associated work includes saw - cutting, pavement removal and trenching, sheeting, <br /> shoring and bracing, dewatering, backfill, controlled density fill, base compaction, <br />
