On certain streets, striping will <br /> be added to increase the safety and comfort of people bicycling, consistent with the <br /> City's complete streets goals. Proposed addition includes additional markings on Myrtle <br /> Street and King Street within project area. <br /> Project streets are shown on the attached Project Location Map. <br /> Six (6) bids were received for the 2014 -2015 Slurry Seal Project by the bid deadline on <br /> July 2, 2015. Based upon the bids <br /> received, staff believes that the low bid of $463,565.00 is reasonable and responsive, <br /> and recommends awarding the contract to Pavement Coatings Co. <br /> Construction is anticipated to begin in Summer 2015, and conclude by Fall 2015. <br /> Notification of the proposed work will be distributed to area residents, property owners, <br /> business owners, and schools in advance of the start of work. <br /> ALTERNATIVES <br /> Council may choose not to award the construction contract and direct staff to redesign <br /> and /or rebid this project. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT <br /> Funds for Street Pavement Management Programs have been previously approved and <br /> appropriated with an available balance of $401,960.68 in the Transportation Fund and <br /> $1,615,314.40 in the Gas Tax Construction Fund, as of June 30, 2015. <br />
