I . , . -
Director Church said that retail on the first floor was the goal of the developers, but they
--- had run into a little trouble with prospective clients "turned off by some of the incidents
within the vicinity of that site." Director Church said there are some things the City and
Agency "can do to help them out with that."
Council Members expressed their disappointment with a few of the properties in that area
not being taken care of and used to their highest and best use, and discussed what could be
done to improve that corner. They expressed their encouragement of the proposed
development that they hoped would rejuvenate the area and their desire for retail on the
first floor. They also spoke of the many extensions that the Sequoia Station project
received and how proud they were that Councils over the years continued to support the
project until it could be financed and built.
MIS: LEIPZIGIRUSKIN. Request for Task Order No. I for Surveying Services for BicyclelPedestrian
'----' Undercrossing at Highway 101/84 Interchange. (Brian Kangas Foulk Associates) (304)
REPORT: Engineering Division, April 22, 1996
Engineering Manager Patterson explained "that once the designers were on site to try
and figure out where they could build the bicycle path, it was obvious that some of the
existing railroad equipment might be in the way. They might have to move onto San
Mateo County property and it would take an easement to do so, because we don't know
where the property lines are in that area we were unable to determine which easements
might be necessary and how much land we might be asking for an easement from San
Mateo County. We have to do this extra survey work just to establish those boundary
lines."
In response to Council questions, Manager Patterson said that even with these extra
survey costs the project would still be within budget.
Councilman Leipzig said that he would be consistent with his vote on January 5, 1996
and would vote "no" on this project.
--- MINUTE BOOK NO. 54
Page No. 207
Regular Meeting Minutes
April22, 1996
Page 9
