I . I . -
G. City Manager Everett invited everyone to attend a question and answer community
meeting regarding Electronic Arts, 6:30 to 10:00 p.m., May 24, 1996 at the Belmont
- Sports Complex.
___-_n____-_-----______n_nn_nn_n__.________.n___.__---____n______-----____--n______-------------______n_n_--
Mayor Hartnett recessed the meeting at 9:08 p.m.
Meeting reconvened at 9:16 p.m.
---------------------------------------------------------___---n___--_--___-__n_n_________nnn______---------n__n
8. STAFF REPORTS
A New City Hall Project (100)
REPORTS: Sharon Jones, Project Engineer, May 22,1996
Project Engineer Jones presented the staff report and introduced Steve Haynes, architect
from Fisher Friedman, Walter Eng, Project Manager from Rudolph and Sletten, and Sandy
Skelton, on site superintendent of the project, also from Rudolph and Sletten. Engineer
Jones showed overheads of the Rudolph and Sletten budget, and said "We are asking
Council to adopt a resolution...to amend an agreement for Rudolph and Sletten authorizing
the construction of the new City Hall and accepting the subcontractors bids from the
lowest responsible bidders, and authorizing execution of the amended agreement for the
final agreed price of$8,5I5,614.00."
- Project Engineer Jones said the above bid was approximately $500,000 less than the $9
million construction budget Council authorized in January, 1996. She advised that the
total budget of the whole project remained at $11 million.
In response to Council questions, Project Engineer Jones said the $11 million was not
reduced by the $500,000 as staff will recommend using those funds for items the Council
Facilities Committee had wanted included in the new City Hall, such as electronic
equipment for the Council Chamber. Also, there is a need for an emergency generator in
the new City Hall which is now included in the c.I.P. All staff recommendations for use
of the $500,000 will be brought to the Council for its decision during discussions of the
C.I.P. budget.
Mayor Hartnett asked if anyone in the audience wished to address this topic. No one
came forward.
Councilwoman Buchan, member of the Council Facilities Committee charged with
oversight of the new City Hall project, thanked the staff, especially Project Engineer Jones
and Engineering Manager Patterson who insisted on quality throughout the process.
'-- Taken out of order at this time.
MINUTE BOOK NO. 54
Special Meeting Minutes Page No. 247
May 22, 1996
Page 8
