Councilwoman Buchan requested further information from the Police Chief regarding reductions in overtime. MEMO 6/25/96 Vice Mayor Howard praised the Police Department for their excellent work on code enforcement. In response to a question from Vice Mayor Howard, Police Chief Bolanos stated that his department is doing everything possible regarding abandoned vehicle abatement fees. Library Director Light discussed grant money, working with the Small Business Center at Canada College and the Chamber of Commerce, and charging fees for certain library services. Parks and Recreation Director Griffith provided a snapshot of his diverse department which consists of the following sub-programs; the Fair Oaks Commission, the Senior Affairs Commission, the Civic Cultural Commission, the Park and Recreation Commission, the Pride and Beautification Committee, Landscape Maintenance, Lido Landscape Maintenance, Seaport Blvd. Landscape, Community Leisure Services, Municipal Athletics and Aquatics, Red Morton Facility, Senior Services, Special Interests, Building and Custodial Maintenance, the Fair Oaks Community Center, and participation in Capital Programs and possible entrepreneurial opportunities. Mayor Hartnett stated that the Park and Recreation Department is complex and diverse and always manages to do a lot with a very efficient staff.
