, � . �4- , 13 <br /> Brief Description of Agency Funding Requests <br /> HSFA Applicants FY 04-05 <br /> EMERGENCY SERVICES <br /> CORA (Community Overcominq Relationship Abuse) — 24 Hour Crisis Line and <br /> Support Services <br /> The result of a merger befinreen Sor Juana Ines Services for Abused Women and <br /> the Center for pomestic Violence Prevention, CORA's services are designed to <br /> address the needs of victims of domestic violence as well as to prevent future <br /> occurrences of domestic violence. These services include: a 24-hour hotline, an <br /> emergency response program (in collaboration with law enforcement agencies), <br /> legal assistance and restraining orders, emergency and transitional housing, <br /> individual and group peer counseling, community outreach and education, <br /> screening and referral for child witnesses, children's program, and teen chat <br /> room (on-line peer counseling). $20,000 was requested fo support the 24-hour <br /> emergency crisis and support telephone providing assistance to victims of <br /> domestic violence as well as those in danger of becoming victims of violence. <br /> Youth and Familv Enrichment Services (YFES) -Crisis Intervention and Suicide <br /> Prevention Center. <br /> Youth and Family Enrichment Services is the product of the recent merger of <br /> Family and Community Enrichment Services, Inc (FACES) and Youth and Family <br /> Assistance (YFA). YFES draws on the historical legacy of service that each <br /> agency brings to carry out iYs mission to strengthen communities by empowering <br /> youth, families and individuals to overcome challenges through counseling, <br /> education, and residential services. The Crisis Intervention and Suicide <br /> Prevention Center seeks to provide readily accessible help to people in their <br /> times of greatest need. For more than thirty-five years the Crisis Center has <br /> been the only 24-hour suicide and crisis hotline in the San Mateo County. <br /> Alongside the Crisis Line, the YFES Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention <br /> Center also operates a 24-hour Alcohol & Drug Helpline, which connects people <br /> to substance abuse treatment or 12-step meetings, and a third hotline, the new <br /> 24-hour Parent support Line, which provides guidance and comfort to parents in <br /> crisis. The Youth Intervention Team provides on-call counselors to San Mateo <br /> County schools to assess suicidal youth behaviors and other crisis situations and <br /> develop a plan for intervention. $15,000 was requested to support the operation <br /> of the crisis hotline and the Youth Intervention Team's outreach and inrervention <br /> efforts in Redwood City. <br /> 1 <br />
