• Supporter recruitment at public events (summer events as mentioned)
• Identifying third parties for endorsements (HOAs,Veterans, sports groups,
etc.)
• Small peer-to-peer coffees or lunches
• Presentations and group meetings
BergDavis will provide coaching and other assistance in advance of private and public
meetings, including"tough question" practice, as well as other strategic advice.
Stakeholder ldentification
Typically BergDavis works with clients to identify critical stakeholders. In the case of
Redwood City, many of these groups are self-evident:veterans,seniors, adjacent
neighbors, park users, sports groups, etc. BergDavis would review existing contacts
and suggest additions if gaps are identified. Our team would maintain a database of
stakeholders as we conduct outreach and track the results. We would also use the
database for sending updates and recruiting supporters for public hearings.
Creation of Key Messages
BergDavis would develop clear and concise messages that would be used in all
documents and communication efforts. Messages would cover a range of topics-
everything from parking and shadows,to community impact, to historic resources and
environmental sustainability.
Creation of Project Materials
BergDavis would create facts sheets and other briefing documents for the project
based upon the project's key messages.Typically briefing kits contain renderings, a
fact sheet, an introductory letter, a set of Frequently Asked Questions(FAQ,) and
other handouts as necessary.
Online Communications
BergDavis would use project materials to generate a web presence for the project, and
would leverage the site through existing or new social media platforms. The site could
either be a page or pages on the city's website, or a standalone site could be
developed. It's possible to embed outreach tools within the website which would
allow people to register and receive project updates via email blasts or an e-
newsletter.
Public Meeting Facilitation & Management
BergDavis would take the lead in preparing the team to host a public meeting after the
initial round of"quiet" outreach was complete. The firm is able to provide all logistical
services including recommending a notification strategy, preparing an invitation
and/or ads for local papers or blogs, developing an agenda, recommending speakers
and formats, and coaching the team on content, anticipated questions and crowd
management strategies.
REV:07-28-15 MLG
ATTY/AGR/2015.148/ELS ARCHITECTURE ANDESIGN
