openings shall be proportioned on the basis of two square <br /> feet for each 25 linear feet or major fraction thereof of <br /> exterior wall. One such ventilating opening shall be <br /> within three feet of each corner of said building. Such <br /> openings need not be placed in the front of the building. <br /> "Al1 underfloor spaces of any buildings shall be pro- <br /> vided with an access openinq not smaller than 24 inches by <br /> 30 inches. Such access openings shall be located in the <br /> exterior wall of the building. <br /> '"Minimum clearance between bottom of floor joist and <br /> the ground beneath shall be 18 inches, with minimum clearance <br /> under girders, heating ducts, or any other obstructions, <br /> 12 inches. For plank and beam construction, the minimum <br /> clearance between the bottom of bea� and the ground beneath <br /> shall be 18 inches. <br /> " (b) Durability. Where not otherwise prohibited by <br /> other provisions of this Code, no wood, other than Foundation <br /> Grade redwood, Foundation Grade cedar, all-heartwood cypress, <br /> or any species of wood pressure treated with an approved <br /> preservative, marked or branded by an approved agency, shall <br /> be nearer than six inches to any earth unless separated by <br /> concrete at least three inches thick, except that untreated <br /> wood may be used where entirely below ground-water level <br /> or continuously submerged in fresh water, and untreated <br /> wood may be used in fences and similar well ventilated and <br /> accessible non-load bearing structures where not actually <br /> in direct contact with earth. <br /> " tc) Termite Protection.
