There are a laundry list of others, but I <br /> 5 think it - - it fits Redwood City and it fits the <br /> 6 sites. <br /> 7 MAYOR IRA: Council Member Ruskin. <br /> 8 COUNCIL MEMBER RUSKIN: I'm going to <br /> 9 support this motion for three reasons, I won't <br /> 10 repeat Council Member Hartnett's reasons, he spoke <br /> 11 eloquently about certain aspects that I agree with. <br /> 12 But I support this for three reasons, No. 1, we <br /> 13 need housing in the Bay Area. and this project <br />~ <br /> 14 provides housing. <br /> 15 No. 2, we need affordable housing. And <br /> 16 this project provides .affordable housing. <br /> 17 No. 3, I think it's absolutely critical <br /> 18 that we work to protect the green space, the open <br /> 19 green space that surrounds our communities. And <br /> 20 unless we build in-fill housing in our communities, <br /> 21 we create a untenable pressure on the green space <br /> 22 that surrounds our communities. <br /> 23 There is a continual pressure to build <br /> 24 there, a pressure that I think we have to <br /> 25 withstand.
