<br /> REPORTER'S TRANSCRIPT OF PROCEEDINGS TAKEN 6-7-04 <br /> 1 green. <br />r 2 The only do this in the <br /> way we can <br /> 3 long-term is to create dense housing, in-fill <br /> 4 housing when there is an opportunity to do that. <br /> 5 So for those three reasons and others, I'll <br /> 6 support this. <br /> 7 MAYOR IRA: Council Member Bain. <br /> 8 COUNCIL MEMBER BAIN: We've all thought <br /> 9 long and hard about this, a number beyond what we <br /> 10 heard in the public hearing, as many of you know, <br /> 11 we've studied several feet of written materials, <br /> 12 literally, and I'm sure the rest of the Council has <br /> 13 had their ear bent by many concerned citizens on <br />\ <br /> 14 both sides of the issue. <br /> 15 We - - we've discussed a number of different <br /> 16 concerns, the airport noise, the traffic, the <br /> 17 environmental concerns, water, height. And our <br /> 18 role as Council Members is to balance the concerns <br /> 19 with the needs of the community. And to determine <br /> 20 if this development is going to improve our quality <br /> 21 of life more than it's going to detract from it. <br /> 22 I went into the last public hearing with a <br /> 23 very open mind on this subject, I heard a lot of <br /> 24 concerns raised and I asked a lot of questions. <br /> 25 And to my satisfaction, I believe that those <br /> UCCELLI & ASSOCIATES 39 <br /> (650) 952-0774 <br /> .- <br />
