REPORTER'S TRANSCRIPT OF PROCEEDINGS TAKEN 6-7-04
1 all of the reasons that my colleagues have
( 2 mentioned.
3 Thank you.
4 MAYOR IRA: Council Member Howard.
5 COUNCIL MEMBER HOWARD: Thank you.
6 Part of our job as Council Members is to
7 have vision and project out 10 to 20 years, and
8 based on the information we're given and the public
9 input that we hear, our job is to decide what's
10 best for Redwood City.
11 We take it very personally and very
12 seriously. Marina Shores Village is truly a unique
( 13 project, it has no comparison in Redwood City or in
14 the surrounding area, no comparisons to draw from.
15 But I will support the project for the
16 following reasons: First of all, it provides much
17 needed housing for a diversity of incomes in
18 Redwood City. It's not a project that will be
19 built overnight, it's going to evolve over 20
20 years. There will be many safeguards in place at
21 each step along the way so that we can ensure that
22 what we have all agreed upon today will, in fact,
23 happen in our community.
24 The increase of housing will draw people in
25 a positive way, effecting, I hope, filling up our
UCCELLI & ASSOCIATES 45
(650) 952-0774
-.
