REPORTER'S TRANSCRIPT OF PROCEEDINGS TAKEN 5-24-04
1 to illustrate how they're Redwood City numbers, if
i 2 we take a look, for instance, at Pacific Shores
3 Center, when the economy improves and those
4 buildings which are fully built are occupied,
5 they'll have approximately 7,000 employees, to
6 house those employees alone would require two of
7 these projects.
8 We take that project and add Excite@home,
9 it means almost three of these projects, just for
10 those two commercial developments. To satisfy the
11 housing for just those two, we need this project
12 and every one of the roughly 2,500 units identified
13 in the downtown study.
(
14 These are real problems, they're Redwood
15 City problems, and they're all in the last seven or
16 eight years, not counting other projects, approved.
17 The EIR identifies traffic impacts from
18 this project, but I think that's because the way
19 traffic's identified in the studies is fatally
20 flawed from a regional perspective. Every house
21 that's built has a traffic generation in the E IR,
22 but these employees are already here, they'll be
23 here when the economy improves and they're driving
24 from far, far away, many of them. Every house
( 25 built, I argue shortens a transportation trip.
UCCELLI & ASSOCIATES 124
(650) 952-0774
--
