What <br /> 7 ar~ -- for - - for buildings of this size, can you <br /> 8 describe the basic fire safety requirements? <br /> 9 FIRE CHIEF KOHLMANN: Yeah. <br /> 10 Good evening Mayor, members of the Council. <br /> 11 The situation we face with a structure like this is <br /> 12 not' unlike what other major cities have faced <br /> 13 across the America, so we rely on National Fire <br />( <br /> 14 Protection Association and other adopted codes <br /> 15 under Redwood City's Municipal Code to guide us <br /> 16 through the process. <br /> 17 It also allows us to deal with other <br /> 18 jurisdictions that have similar installations and <br /> 19 what accommodations they've made. <br /> 20 In the case of high-rise buildings which <br /> 21 these are officially high-rise buildings under the <br /> 22 eyes of the fire code, which means that they're <br /> 23 more than 75 feet tall from the point that we enter <br /> 24 the building.
