REPORTER'S TRANSCRIPT OF PROCEEDINGS TAKEN 5-24-04
I'm a member of the Samcita (phonetic)
board of directors and we struggle regularly with
the expense of all businesses that are trying so
desperately to work and - - and thrive in this area.
And the lack of affordable housing is impacting all
businesses.
But I'm specifically here to speak to you
on behalf of one of your largest employers in
Redwood City, and that is Sequoia Hospital. As a
senior executive of Sequoia Hospital, I want to
share with you once again something that you've
heard me speak before about, and that is, the
scarcity of nurses, the scarcity of pharmacists,
(
the scarcity of lab techs, the scarcity of
radiology techs. All of us are ageing, and fo r
those of you that weren't aware, San Mateo county
is the most aged count Y' i n the State of California.
Sequoia Hospital, 'howeve r, maintains the
number one cardiac hospital in the State of
California and is also one of the top card- -- or
top hospitals in the nation, in the top 3.1
percent. We want to stay there. But we are
continually challenged by this scarcity of talent,
and their inability to find housing that they can
afford in this community.
UCCELLI & ASSOCIATES 87
(650) 952-0774
.,.
