Red Morton Community Park Sports Lighting Initial Study
City of Redwood City 44 June 2015
4.7.2.2 Consistency with Statewide GHG Reduction Plans, Plan Bay Area, and the
Redwood City Climate Action Plan

As discussed above, the project would not generate a substantial volume of greenhouse gases. For
this reason, the project would not substantially impede local, regional, or statewide efforts to reduce
overall greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels. Additionally, the project proposes to replace
existing sports lighting on Bechet/Griffin Field and the tennis courts with more modern, energy-
efficient sports lighting, which will partially offset the increased electricity use associated with
installation of new sports lighting on Mitchell Field. Installation of energy-efficient lighting is
consistent with Measure EM1 Energy Efficient Public Lighting Program of the Redwood City
Climate Action Plan. For these reasons, the proposed project would not conflict with implementation
of the State AB32 Scoping Plan, Plan Bay Area, or the Redwood City Climate Action Plan.

4.7.3 Conclusion

The proposed project would not result in substantial GHG emissions that would have a significant
impact on the environment, nor would the proposed project conflict with statewide, regional, or local
plans adopted to reduce GHG emissions. (Less Than Significant Impact)
8.A. - Page 61
