There are no known hazardous
material concerns on the project site. Land uses in the project area consist mainly of single family
residences. There are no industrial uses near the project site that pose a hazardous materials concern.

Government Code Section 65962.5 (Cortese List)

The Hazardous Waste and Substances Sites (Cortese) List is a planning document used by the State,
local agencies and developers to find information about the location of hazardous materials release
sites. Government Code section 65962.5 requires the California Environmental Protection Agency to
develop an updated Cortese List at least annually. The Cortese List includes lists maintained by the
Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), the State Water Resources Control Board
(SWRCB), and the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB).20 The park is not
listed by the DTSC, SWRCB, or CIWMB as a hazardous materials site.

4.8.2 Environmental Checklist and Discussion of Impacts

Potentially
Significant
Impact
Less Than
Significant
With
Mitigation
Incorporated
Less Than
Significant
Impact
No Impact Checklist
Source(s)
Would the project:
1. Create a significant hazard to the public or
the environment through the routine
transport, use, or disposal of hazardous
materials?
1
2. Create a significant hazard to the public or the
environment through reasonably foreseeable
upset and accident conditions involving the
release of hazardous materials into the
environment?
1
3. Emit hazardous emissions or handle
hazardous or acutely hazardous materials,
substances, or waste within one-quarter mile
of an existing or proposed school?
1,2
4. Be located on a site which is included on a list
of hazardous materials sites compiled
pursuant to Government Code Section
65962.5 and, as a result, will it create a
significant hazard to the public or the
environment?
1

20 The DTSC and SWRCB hazardous material sites lists are available online at
http://www.calepa.ca.gov/sitecleanup/CorteseList/default.htm.
8.A. - Page 62
