Esplanade, left on Village Way around the marina, then cross Bair Island Road where it connects to the Bay Trail. The runners will run through San Carlos until connecting again with the Bay Trail surrounding the Redwood Shores community. Runners will turn around and retrace their steps back to the finish line at Bradford St. and Main St. A map is attached for reference. At 7:45 a.m. the 5K fun run will start on Bradford St. at Main St. and head westbound on Main St. to Marshall St. The runners will turn left on Marshall St. and run southbound towards Maple St. At Maple St. they will turn east and proceed across Veterans Blvd. to the end of Maple St. and then through Docktown Marina, and over the Bridge to Nowhere. On the other side of the bridge, the contractor for the hotel construction has given the race participants permission to turn right and run through a corner of the construction site. The route will then turn east on Outer Esplanade. Runners will turn around at the intersection of Outer Esplanade and Village Way and retrace their steps back to the finish line at Bradford St. and Main St. A map is attached for reference. Both races are expected to be completed by 1:00 p.m. Should alterations be required, any change to the race routes will be determined under the supervision and approval of the Police Chief or his designee. The Letter Permit grants authority to post “No Parking” signs on Bradford St. and Main St. as well as a street closure on Bradford St. between Jefferson Ave. and Main St. from 05:30 am to 3:00 pm on October 24, 2015. The Letter Permit also grants a street closure on Main St. between Bradford St. and Marshall St. As they have in previous years, The Foundation has completed an extensive notification process to the affected business along the route and no objections have been received by staff. The letter permit contains standard “hold harmless” insurance and course control provisions. ALTERNATIVES The City Council could choose not to authorize the execution of the letter permit. The selection of this alternative would end the annual OktobeRun event in Redwood City. FISCAL IMPACT The Foundation will pay for the services of ten police employees to control traffic between 7:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on the day of the event. The Foundation will provide personnel to conduct the necessary postings of the affected roadways under the supervision of the Police Department. No other City services are required. 6.1.B. - Page 2
