Esplanade, left on Village Way around the marina, then cross Bair Island Road where it <br />connects to the Bay Trail. The runners will run through San Carlos until connecting <br />again with the Bay Trail surrounding the Redwood Shores community. Runners will turn <br />around and retrace their steps back to the finish line at Bradford St. and Main St. A <br />map is attached for reference. <br /> <br />At 7:45 a.m. the 5K fun run will start on Bradford St. at Main St. and head westbound on <br />Main St. to Marshall St. The runners will turn left on Marshall St. and run southbound <br />towards Maple St. At Maple St. they will turn east and proceed across Veterans Blvd. to <br />the end of Maple St. and then through Docktown Marina, and over the Bridge to <br />Nowhere. On the other side of the bridge, the contractor for the hotel construction has <br />given the race participants permission to turn right and run through a corner of the <br />construction site. The route will then turn east on Outer Esplanade. Runners will turn <br />around at the intersection of Outer Esplanade and Village Way and retrace their steps <br />back to the finish line at Bradford St. and Main St. A map is attached for reference. <br /> <br />Both races are expected to be completed by 1:00 p.m. Should alterations be required, <br />any change to the race routes will be determined under the supervision and approval of <br />the Police Chief or his designee. <br /> <br />The Letter Permit grants authority to post “No Parking” signs on Bradford St. and Main <br />St. as well as a street closure on Bradford St. between Jefferson Ave. and Main St. from <br />05:30 am to 3:00 pm on October 24, 2015. The Letter Permit also grants a street <br />closure on Main St. between Bradford St. and Marshall St. <br /> <br />As they have in previous years, The Foundation has completed an extensive notification <br />process to the affected business along the route and no objections have been received <br />by staff. The letter permit contains standard “hold harmless” insurance and course <br />control provisions. <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />The City Council could choose not to authorize the execution of the letter permit. The <br />selection of this alternative would end the annual OktobeRun event in Redwood City. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />The Foundation will pay for the services of ten police employees to control traffic <br />between 7:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on the day of the event. The Foundation will provide <br />personnel to conduct the necessary postings of the affected roadways under the <br />supervision of the Police Department.
