Firefighter’s two-way wired communication system shall be installed in buildings six <br />(6) stories in height. (Redwood City Ordinance 2402) <br />53. A public address system for the exclusive use of Fire Department personnel, peace <br />officers, or other City enforcement personnel shall be installed in buildings four (4) <br />stories in height. (Redwood City Ordinance 2402) <br />54. A two-way communication system shall be provided at the elevator landing on each <br />accessible floor that is one or more stories above or below the story of exit discharge. <br />(IBC 1007.8) <br />55. The needed fire flow shall be not less than 2500 gallons per minute at the minimum <br />residual pressure of 20 pounds per square inch for a duration of two hours. (CFC <br />APPENDIX B) This needed fire flow from a water supply includes both the required <br />fire flow and the demand for the automatic fire sprinkler system. <br />56. The entrance to the Fire Command Center shall be from the exterior of the building. <br />(Redwood City Fire Department Standard) <br />57. All new buildings shall have approved radio coverage for emergency responders <br />within the building based upon the existing coverage levels of the public safety <br />communication systems at the exterior of the building. (CFC 403.4.5 and 510) <br />58. Key boxes shall be installed where access to or within a structure is restricted <br />because of secured openings or where immediate access is necessary for life saving <br />or firefighting purposes. (CFC 506.1) Recessed key boxes shall be installed at all <br />building entrances five to six feet above finished grade. <br />59. Applicant shall comply with all City, State and Federal regulations, applicable to the <br />Project, related to: fire and life safety, ADA requirements, and all general building <br />code regulations as per the State Building Code as adopted and amended by the City <br />of Redwood City. <br />60. A landscaping and irrigation plan shall be included in the Building Permit submittal. <br />61. Tree protection measures shall be provided for all trees to remain near the project <br />that are 12” in diameter and larger. These measures shall be shown on the building <br />permit plans and coordinated with the City’s Landscape Architect. <br />62. The applicant shall hire a qualified biologist to conduct a survey for nesting birds prior <br />to tree removal or trimming, and submit the survey for filing. All tree removal and <br />trimming shall take place outside of the breeding season. <br />63. The applicant shall obtain a Tree Removal Permit for the removal of any existing on- <br />site trees that are 12” in diameter and larger. <br />64. New exterior lighting requires final review by the City prior to building permit <br />issuance. As part of the Building Permit submittal package, the applicant shall <br />provide a lighting plan including cut-sheets for all new fixtures, as well as <br />photometric evaluation site plan demonstrating that light levels are appropriate for <br />7.A. - Page 46
