SPECIAL ORDERS OF THE DAY <br /> A. Proclamation proclaiming March 19 through March 25, Mediation Week in <br /> Redwood City; (207) <br /> Mayor Gasparini read the Proclamation and presented it to Ruben Avelar and Rudy <br /> Ramirez from the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center who thanked the Council for <br /> acknowledgment ofPCRC's services and stated it was an honor and a privilege to work <br /> with Redwood City. Mr. Avelar invited everyone to attend the Mediation Workshop on <br /> "Managing Conflict" to be held from 9 A.M. to Noon on March 22, 1995, at the Belmont <br /> Sports Complex in Belmont, California. <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> B. Proclamation upon the occasion of Sergeant Don Shurtleff's retirement from the <br /> Redwood City Police Department after eleven plus years of outstanding service to his <br /> department and his community; (207) <br /> Mayor Gasparini read the proclamation and presented it to Sergeant Shurtleff and his <br /> wife, Dorothy. Sergeant Shurtleff thanked the Council for acknowledging his work, and <br /> said it had been pure enjoyment and an honor to work for the people of Redwood City. <br /> Sergeant Shurtleff added that he was retiring because of a disability and wanted the <br /> Council to know that he had received top notch medical treatment and therapy and thanked <br /> the City for taking care of its officers. <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> C. Presentation of Redwood City plaques to retiring and outgoing members of the Housing <br /> and Human Concerns Committee and the Fair Oaks Center Community Advisory Board in <br /> honor of their hard work and accomplishments to improve the quality of life in Redwood <br /> City; (207) <br /> Mayor Gasparini presented the City's Plaque recognizing the outstanding service of <br /> Beatrice Soto who retired from the Fair Oaks Center Community Advisory Board, to <br /> Board Chairperson Bonnie Miller who accepted on Mrs. Soto' s behalf. <br /> The outgoing members of the Housing and Human Concerns Committee, Deborah Wade, <br /> Annie Edwards, Frederick Jefferson, and Michael Hitchcock were unable to attend this <br /> presentation and their plaques will be presented to them by the Housing Division at a later <br /> date, with the thanks of the Council for their service to the community. <br /> Regular Meeting Minutes MINUTE BOOK NO. 53 <br /> March 13, 1995 Page No. 099 <br /> Page 8 <br />
