<br /> Carol Milestone, a new teacher at John Gill and new to the Intergenerational Program, <br /> told the Council and the audience how excited all the participants were to share time <br /> together, and described how cultural and agricultural components would be added to the <br /> Program next year. <br /> Jean Nance, senior volunteer, spoke about her eight year involvement with the Program <br /> and its evolution from strictly social activities to new ways of exchanging stories and <br /> trying new experiences with the young students that broadens their sense of self, and <br /> increases their understanding of all people, no matter what age. <br /> MINUTE ORDER NO. 95-067 <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> D. Presentation by the MidPeninsula Regional Open Space District. <br /> Wim de Wit, MidPeninsula Regional Open Space District representative from San Carlos <br /> and Redwood City, introduced L. Craig Britton, General Manager of the District. Mr. <br /> Britton described the District which was created in 1972 and extends from San Carlos to <br /> Los Gatos, an area with a population of 660,000 and 330 square miles. Mr. Britton <br /> showed slides of the beautiful open space areas in the District which employs 12 rangers <br /> and 13 technicians to oversee the District lands. Mr. Britton advised the Council that the <br /> goals of the District were to acquire and manage lands as open space and to complete an <br /> urban green belt. Mr. Britton explained that the District continues to plan for further land <br /> acquisitions, although it has about reached its financial limits to acquire more land at this <br /> time. Mr. Britton described the District's revenues and expenditures explaining its special <br /> District status, and advised that the District can and does accept gifts, bequests, and grants. <br /> Mr. Britton invited everyone to take advantage of these beautiful open space lands, and <br /> invited the Council to join the next VIP tour planned for the near future. <br /> MEMO 3/28/95 <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> 2. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> A. Pastor Logie told the Council about the Police Chaplain Program in Redwood City and <br /> described its compassionate services and work with the Police Department. Pastor Logie <br /> thanked Captain Granucci for helping to develop the program, and thanked the Woodside <br /> Kiwanis for providing official jackets to the Chaplains. <br /> Pastor Logie described how the churches in Redwood City get together every year to <br /> share in Good Friday Services.
