Mary Cameron, 19 Waterside Circle, Redwood City, said that she sympathized with
Mr. Orlick and the concerns he expressed earlier as she had lived in Regatta, but with
three children the home was not big enough, and she had to move to a larger home. Mrs.
Cameron expressed her support for the project stating it was a good compromise.
Robin Carler, Redwood City, told the Council and Board that she was from North
Carolina, and truly enjoyed the beautiful environment of Redwood Shores and was very
excited about the prospect of the new school. Mrs. Carler told Mr. Orlick the reason he
saw very few little children in the neighborhood was because they were either in school
or in pre-school. Mrs. Carler stated she was very supportive of the project.
Vice President MacDuckston reminded everyone that this was just the first step in the
process and the next step was to set-up an Architectural Committee. Vice President
MacDuckston stated that the Belmont Elementary School District ran five schools and
were very cognizant of how schools need to fit into neighborhoods and not be
burdensome to their neighbors. Vice President MacDuckston said the plan for opening
the school was September, 1997. (Met with great applause!) School Board President
Archibeque advised everyone that this was NOT the final opportunity for people to be
heard on this project.
B. Title read.
