Presentation by the San Mateo Special Olympics Power Lifting Program participants on <br /> their successes and their use of the Redwood City Fire Department Station No.9; (205) <br /> Mr. Larry McDonald, coach for the San Mateo Special Olympics athletes, advised the <br /> Council that the San Mateo Special Olympics Power Lifting Program had started last year <br /> with seven athletes and now had fifteen athletes training one day a week at Fire Station <br /> No.9. Mr. McDonald thanked Fire Prevention Officer Anderson, and Firefighters <br /> Collins and Buranzon for their help and support. Everyone was invited to attend the <br /> annual San Mateo County Special Olympics Powerlifting Meet, Saturday, May 13, 1995, <br /> 8:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. at the American Legion, Post 105,651 EI Camino Real, Redwood <br /> City. <br /> MINUTE ORDER NO. 95-081 <br /> H. Robert Page and Clyde Clark, representing Veterans of Foreign Wars, presented awards of <br /> appreciation for outstanding service to Police Officer Edward Feeney and Firefighter <br /> Bruce Meisenbach; (207) <br /> The Board of Supervisors Chambers and the lobby outside were filled with Redwood City <br /> police and fire personnel who joined the Council in honoring two of their colleagues who <br /> received awards of appreciation presented by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. <br /> Mr. Robert Page presented the award of appreciation from the Veterans of Foreign Wars <br /> to Police Officer Edward Feeney. After a long and loud round of applause, Officer <br /> Feeney thanked the Veterans, his colleagues, Officer Sherman who nominated him, and <br /> introduced his large and very proud family, including his daughter Kelsey. <br /> Mr. Clyde Clark presented the award of appreciation from the Veterans of Foreign Wars <br /> to Firefighter Bruce Meisenbach. After a long and loud round of applause, Firefighter <br /> Meisenbach thanked the Veterans and his colleagues and peers in his firefighting family, <br /> and accepted the award on behalf of his team. <br /> Vice Mayor Hartnett told Police Officer Feeney and Firefighter Meisenbach that the <br /> Council was extremely proud of them and very happy to be a part of the awards <br /> presentation acknowledging their achievements. <br /> MINUTE ORDER NO. 95-082 <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> 2. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> A. Michael Bursak, 1831 Whipple, Redwood City, asked the Council to consider a "gun <br /> turn-in program." Mr. Bursak stated that in light of the tragedy that occurred in Oklahoma <br /> City, it might be the right time to sponsor such a program to get unwanted guns out of the <br /> community.
