Page 2 County Manager March 6, 2002 VISION ALIGNMENT The contract with the City of Redwood City and Redwood City Elementary School District keeps the commitment of Ensuring basic health and safety for all and goal number 6: Children grow up healthy in safe and supportive homes and neighborhoods. The contract contributes to this commitment and goal since City of Redwood City and Redwood City Elementary School District through their Redwood City Family Centers will be providing parent education, counseling for children and medi-cal outreach services. PERFORMANCE MEASURE The Redwood City Family Centers will work to improve the educational success of children and evaluations will be done annually. *Children will improve in School 8.7% in reading 11.54% in reading 3% their academic performance District 5.8% in math 9.39% in math* increase in as documented by SAT 9 reading and SABE tests, and math *Under the academic performance measure, the Redwood City Family Centers are working with a new population each year. Any increase over 3% is considered significant on the Sat 9 or'SABE tests. This Agreement has been reviewed and approved as to form by the County Counsel's office FISCAL IMPACT The term of this Agreement is July 1, 2001, through June 30, 2002. The total amount of the obligation is ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($100,000) which is entirely Net County Cost. During the budget process for FY 2001-02, the Board of Supervisors designated $100,000 in County funds to support the Redwood City Family Centers. In addition, the City of Redwood City will contribute ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS and Redwood City Elementary School District will contribute FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($50,000) through this Agreement to support the Redwood City Family Centers.
