6.1.A. - Page 1 <br /> REPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> October 12, 2015 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Purchase of Six Police Cars <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Approve by motion, the purchase of six 2016 Ford Police cars in the amount of <br /> $182,845.50 from Towne Ford of Redwood City. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> Redwood City's Fleet Replacement Program is designed to provide a structure for <br /> evaluating vehicles and equipment in order to replace them at the most economically <br /> advantageous point in their life cycle. At pre-described intervals, vehicles and <br /> equipment undergo a thorough evaluation including but not limited to, age, mileage, <br /> condition, maintenance history, downtime, anticipated future repairs, usage and vehicle <br /> capabilities. <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> The Redwood City Police Department has six patrol vehicles that are scheduled to be <br /> replaced in the current Fiscal Year (FY). After careful consideration and evaluation, <br /> representatives from the Police Department and the Public Works Fleet Section have <br /> agreed that Ford Police cars (Interceptor model) will meet the rigorous demands of the <br /> Police Department. <br /> On August 21, 2015 a Notice Inviting Sealed Bids was published in The Daily News with <br /> a submission deadline of 3:30 p.m. on September 9, 2015. Copies of the bid notice <br /> were emailed to three (3) local dealerships with additional copies available at the Public <br /> Works office located at 1400 Broadway, Redwood City, CA 94063. The received bids <br /> were opened by the City Clerk on September 9, 2015, and are summarized in the table <br /> below. <br />
