6.1.A. - Page 2
Name of Bidder Unit Cost per Total for all Six
Vehicle Vehicles
Towne Ford
(Redwood City, CA) $30,474.25 $182,845.50
Serramonte Ford
(Colma, CA) $28,373.19 $170,239.14
Hansel Ford No Bid Received No Bid Received
(Santa Rosa, CA)
Recommended Bidder: Towne Ford
Substantiation: Towne Ford was the only bidder to submit a valid bid, as Serramonte
Ford submitted a bid with a prior model year (2015) that is not a "current production
model" as specified in the bid specifications.
The recommended action is to award the bid to Towne Ford because they were the only
dealership whose proposal included vehicles of a "current production model", as
specified in the bid specifications. Additionally, through previous transactions, the Fleet
Section of the Public Works Services Department has found Towne Ford to be a very
responsive and responsible bidder.
ALTERNATIVES
The vehicles scheduled for replacement have already exceeded their useful lifecycle
and it would not be economically viable to invest in the continued use and repair of
these vehicles if they were to experience a major breakdown due to their age and
condition. Not approving the purchase of these vehicles would negatively impact the
operations of the Police Department since the vehicles are intended to be used on a
daily basis.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds in the amount of $182,845.50 are available in the FY 2015-16 Equipment
Replacement Fund Budget for the purchase of these vehicles. This amount will be
subsequently recovered from the operating budget of the user department through
vehicle replacement charges in future years.
