He noted that Ms. Madden had asked the Commission to send a letter to <br /> the City stating that they were not taking this matter up. <br /> William Slanker spoke about living at Docktown Marina and his work taking care of the <br /> creek. He expressed concern for the creek once the residents are not cleaning it up <br /> anymore. <br /> Dawn Slanker spoke about living at Docktown Marina and the cost of living in Redwood <br /> City. She noted that the affordability of living at Docktown has allowed her to provide for <br /> her family and educate her children. <br /> Dan Slanker asked the City Council to make the best decision they can make. He <br /> spoke about living at Docktown Marina with his family and the importance of the <br /> affordable housing. <br /> Bob Taormina spoke about the skyrocketing cost of living in Redwood City and the <br /> importance of keeping existing affordable housing. He asked the City Council to keep <br /> Docktown Marina. <br /> James Jonas stated that the former dock master said that the cost of Docktown never <br /> exceeded $1 million a year, and he was willing to help the City transition. He opined <br /> that Solomon Trust, which owned the barge, should have paid for it to be moved. He <br /> noted that the State Lands Commission has outlined the challenges regarding sea level <br /> rise, and said that there was no solution under the public trust doctrine. He stated that <br /> the City should focus on the public needs. <br /> Christopher Tavenner spoke about the community of Docktown Marina and how this is <br /> a diverse, close group of people living there. He stated that the citizens of Redwood <br /> City are upset with how the City has been handling some problems recently. <br /> Lee Callister stated that the City administrators said that the future of Docktown was up <br /> to the Inner Harbor Task Force. He spoke about the Task Force meetings and <br /> discussions about similar floating home sites. He stated that the Task Force offered two <br /> alternatives: moving the floating community to Ferrari Pond, or finding a way to stay at <br /> Docktown. He stated that the Inner Harbor Plan has not yet been presented to the <br /> public and Ferrari Pond does not exist yet. <br /> Lilley Yee, commodore of Peninsula Yacht Club, spoke about the report about the <br /> closure of Docktown. She spoke about the historic water tank at Docktown and the <br /> history of the Yacht Club. She asked the City to delay closure and work with State <br /> Lands to allow liveaboards in Docktown. <br /> Pat Black stated that Docktown has been a true long-time community in Redwood City, <br /> made up of a variety of types of households. She thanked Redwood City for taking care <br /> of Docktown when the management left.
