B. Joyce Gamber, 10 A Nottingham, Redwood City, and A. Callegas, advised Council that
the Taco Bell at 2693 El Camino Real, in the unincorporated area of the County but called
Redwood City, was experiencing the same problems as the Taco Bell on Woodside Road
in the City of Redwood City use to endure. Mrs. Gamber advised that the owner of the
Taco Bell would not respond to her concerns, and she had contacted the County, the
Sheriffs Department and 911 many, many times, but was told there was nothing the
County could do to make the Taco Bell a safer and cleaner place. The Sheriff s
Department told her to contact the City. Mrs. Gamber asked for the Council's help in
securing the same protections as the City imposed on the Taco Bell on Woodside.
City Manager Everett advised that the City had no legal jurisdiction over County
property, but he would contact the County Manager's office to see what could be done.
Council Members asked staff to provide the names of the Taco Bell government liaison
and Taco Bell owner to Mrs. Gamber, and discussed sending a letter in support of Mrs.
Gamber's requests. Mayor Gasparini advised that staff would contact Mrs. Gamber to get
all the details and then go from there.
MEMO 10/10/95
C. Dr. Alex Peros, 1817 Madison Avenue, Redwood City, presented a petition and
photographs from his neighbors requesting a 4-way stop at Sapphire and Madison, and
described the traffic conditions at that corner that make a 4-way stop necessary.
Mayor Gasparini referred this matter to staff, and Councilman Sanfilipo, candidate for
Council, asked staff for the status of all requests for traffic signs in the City.
MEMO 10/10/95
D. Joe Steinfeld, candidate for Council, 850 Main Street, Redwood City, expressed his
opinions on the following subjects: the bidding procedure and cost of the proposed new
City Hall and issues of accountability; the City's legal costs, the funding of the City
Attorney's office, and outside legal work; the City Manager's salary; and current litigation,
strategy and accountability.
E. Joe Brady, 1798 Carleton Court, Redwood City, spoke about Consent Calendar Item 2.E
1) and 2), the Mezes Plaza Development, and presented a brief summary of the leasing
efforts on behalf of the property. Mr. Brady discussed the proposals he had written, and
the difficulties he was having leasing to larger, outside corporations. Mr. Brady stated it
was hard to sell the downtown area. Mr. Brady stated he believed the best opportunity was
to lease to Redwood City businesses.
MINUTE BOOK NO.53
Regular Meeting Minutes Page No. 363
October 9, 1995
Page 2
-.-.... -~-"~"'-""'-"""_-~"_"m"'_'__~---
