MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. Councilwoman Howard reviewed the success of Saturday's "Make a Difference Day." <br /> City employees, community activists, approximately 300 volunteers all worked on Hoover <br /> School, painting, weeding, and tearing up a driveway and repairing it. Councilwoman <br /> Howard expressed her enthusiasm for the project, and stated she would like to "adopt a <br /> school" every year. Councilwoman Howard expressed thanks to the community for their <br /> support. <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> At 10:58 p.m., MIS: LA BERGEIHARTNETT TO EXTEND THE MEETING TO 11:15 P.M. AT THE <br /> LA TEST. APPROVED BY CONSENSUS. <br /> MINUTE ORDER NO. 95-220 <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> B. Councilwoman La Berge advised that the Zhuhai, China Cultural Week was a wonderful <br /> week for everyone, consisting of beautiful performances by the visiting artists. <br /> Councilwoman La Berge stated that it was a very successful visit from Redwood City's <br /> Sister City. <br /> C. Vice Mayor Hartnett reported on the League of California Cities Conference in San <br /> Francisco, stating that Foster City Mayor Yee commented on Redwood City's Sister City <br /> Program and its success. <br /> D. Councilman Sanfilipo inquired regarding progress on Redwood City's interest in a Sister <br /> City in Mexico. Councilwoman La Berge said it was progressing slowly, but she had <br /> heard from a couple of interested cities. <br /> E. Councilwoman Buchan commended the Mayor regarding her chairing of the evening's <br /> meeting. <br /> F. Mayor Gasparini thanked Councilwoman Buchan, and added her accolades regarding the <br /> Sister City visit.
