<br /> Matthew Schwartz, Mid-Peninsula Housing Coalition, 658 Bair Island Road, <br /> Redwood City, stated that the application and issues had been fully explored at the <br /> Planning Commission meeting and expressed agreement with the staff report and <br /> findings. <br /> Don Saye, 2021 Broadway, Redwood City, stated he had participated in the project <br /> and was looking forward to the beautification of the area near his business. <br /> Ralph Garcia, 129 Poplar Avenue, Redwood City, stated that Planning Commission <br /> members had looked at every issue in regard to the subject application. He added that <br /> all projects are not the same and cannot be compared. Commissioner Garcia stated <br /> that the proposed development would revitalize the downtown. <br /> Susan Keely, 766 Canyon Road, Redwood City, said she had been concerned <br /> regarding the revitalization of downtown, and believed that the proposed project would <br /> create a Los Gatos/Saratoga type area. Mrs. Keely stated that it was a beautiful <br /> project that ties the town together, and contains businesses important to the City <br /> including a day care center, a good blending of people and business. <br /> 4) Close public hearing; <br /> MIS: HARTNETT/SANFILIPO CLOSE THE PUBLIC HEARING <br /> CARRIED BY UNANIMOUS VOICE VOTE AND HEARING CLOSED AT 8:15 P.M. <br /> MINUTE ORDER NO. 95-215 <br /> 5) Council action; <br /> In response to Council candidate Councilman Sanfilipo's questions regarding the lack <br /> of adequate parking, Director Patterson advised that the Downtown Mixed Use <br /> Ordinance requires less parking than a residential area. Councilman Sanfilipo stated <br /> he had a problem with the parking shortfall and still felt there was a need for more <br /> parking spaces. <br /> Director Patterson reiterated that the application did meet the parking requirements in <br /> the Ordinance for this kind of development. The Ordinance was enacted in 1993 prior <br /> to the proposed Mezes project being submitted.
