Proclamation honoring Kathleen Mahany as a 1995 League of Women Voters Civic <br />Contribution Awards finalist; (207) <br /> <br />Mayor Gasparini read the proclamation honoring Kathleen Mahany for over fifty years of <br />volunteer work focusing on justice, equality and fair housing, along with her countless <br />hours of dedication to her church and Redwood City's boards, committees and <br />commISSIons. <br /> <br />Mrs. Mahany thanked the Council and told everyone she planned to continue her life's <br />work and planned to continue being "a burr under your saddle." <br /> <br />C. Proclamation congratulating the Marine Science Institute on its 25th Anniversary; (207) <br /> <br />Mayor Gasparini read the proclamation emphasizing the important marine science <br />activities the Institute provides to the children of Redwood City, and thanked Bob <br />Rutherford for his dedication and success. <br /> <br />Bob Rutherford thanked the Council for its support and recognition, introduced Marianne <br />Rook, member of the Board of Trustees of the Marine Science Institute, and told the <br />Council and audience that the Institute had big plans for the future. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> <br />Mayor Gasparini declared a short recess at 7:51 p.m., to allow all the young people in the <br />audience to leave the Meeting and return home to do their homework. <br />Meeting reconvened at 7:55 p.m. <br /> <br />------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> <br /> <br />2. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br />A. Roxanne Dragan, Hoover School teacher, coordinator of "Make a Difference Day" <br />thanked the Council, Hoover parents and students, and members of the neighborhood and <br />community who joined together on Saturday, October 28, 1995, to paint, repair, weed and <br />clean Hoover School. Mrs. Dragan was accompanied by Luz Aguilera, teacher and parent, <br />Jesus Aguilera, parent, and Ed Lopez, another supportive parent.
